Transport investment is local focus
Infrastructure investment leads to growth, and locally, transport investment is currently the focus of much attention. Influential support from the Local Enterprise Partnership and individual business has been key to achieving grant funding for major transport schemes locally.
In Bath, the £27m transportation package is nearly complete, whilst in Weston, £15m has been invested in transport improvements.
Many local businesses gave their support for the South Bristol Link- part of the new MetroBus express bus network. The WE LEP will also be supporting the planning applications for the Ashton Vale to Temple Meads and the North Fringe to Hengrove section of the MetroBus network.
The £27 million Bath Transportation Package that is overhauling the local transport is nearly complete helping to manage the 50,000 cars that enter Bath every single weekday by extending the sustainable transport choice with expanded Park & Ride facilities , improved signage and key junction improvements
In Weston-super-Mare a £15m investment scheme of transport improvements to benefit car and motorcycle drivers, bus passengers, cyclists and pedestrians in Weston-super-Mare and Worle is reaching completion. The five projects which make up the scheme will lead to an improvement in the flow of traffic around the town, reduce congestion and make it easier to use public transport.
LEPs are driving economic growth across an economic area. They provide a means for local authorities to work together with business in order to quicken the economic recovery.
