2014

The number of attendees at Pathways to Professions events in 2014 was 154, which included people from businesses, schools, further education, higher education, training providers and local authorities.

The aim of these events is to provide accurate industry focused information to everyone who works closely with people making career decisions, which in turn will enable them to make informed careers choices and gain employment within the West of England industry sectors.

The West of England Local Enterprise Partnership delivered five Pathways to Professions events in 2014:

21 January – Digital Marketing
26 March – Rail
26 June – Retail, Hospitality and Tourism
23 September – High Tech & Creative
3 December – Engineering
Results

21 January – Digital Marketing

The first Pathways to Professions event was hosted by two leading UK digital agencies: ‘The Real Adventure’ and 'EMO' and was facilitated by:

  • Simon Brace, Real Adventure
  • Peter Brown, EMO
  • Sue Attewell, West of England Local Enterprise Partnership

26 March – Rail

This Pathways to Professions event was hosted by National Rail at their Parkway offices and was facilitated by:

  • Gill Carter, West of England Local Enterprise Partnership

This Pathways to Professions event was hosted by City of Bath College and was facilitated by:

23 September – High Tech & Creative

This Pathways to Professions event was hosted by the Engine Shed at their offices and was facilitated by:

This Pathways to Professions event was hosted by the EEF at Engineers House and was facilitated by:

Results

The evaluation forms completed after every event and a recent survey have shown that the events were very well received and have provided careers and education professionals with the up-to-date information they require in order to advise young people on routes into employment.

  • The general opinion, among the attendees of the five “Pathways to Professions” events in 2014, “Very satisfied
  • 95% of the “Pathways to Professions" attendees valuated "Pathways to Professions" events as “ Interesting and useful”
  • 87% of the "Pathways to Professions" attendees would recommend the event to others
  • 80% of the "Pathways to Professions" attendees will continue attending next year to "Pathways to Professions" events
