A lot of progress has been made in recent years in the 3 main areas of infrastructure fundamental to growth which underpins our Strategic Economic Plan - transport, planning and digital.
Better transport will support business growth with other infrastructure being put in place to also keep the West of England attractive to business. This includes, for example, the upgrading of digital infrastructure to provide superfast broadband, flood relief work and the provision of green infrastructure.
For example, the Greater Bristol Bus Network is in place and the finance has been secured for five other major transport schemes across the West of England area, totalling £244m: the MetroBus Network, the Weston Package and the Bath Transportation Package. Investment in rail with the MetroWest and other rail projects also form part of the whole package of planned infrastructure investment.
